Golf is a collection. We just built the album.
Golfy is made by Apollo Build LLC, an independent studio. It exists because we kept forgetting which courses we'd played — and because the ones we remembered deserved more than a line in a notes app.
Why a course collector, not another scorecard
There are excellent GPS and scorecard apps. None of them answer the question golfers actually ask each other at the bar: “Where have you played?” Golfy is built around that question. Every check-in adds a course to your collection, and every course carries a rarity score so the collection has a value you can compare.
How rarity is scored
We score more than 12,000 US courses on scarcity (how many alternatives exist nearby), exclusivity (public, private, resort) and difficulty, then curate the top tiers by hand around championship history and reputation. The result is five tiers — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary — and an XP payout that makes a Legendary check-in worth about eight times a common one. Read the full breakdown.
The data
Course locations come from OpenStreetMap, corrected and enriched by hand and by our users. If a course is missing or wrong, tell us — fixes usually ship within days. You can browse the whole database at joingolfy.app/golf-courses.
